NOBODY'S GIRL (2026)

'NOBODY’S GIRL is a self-portrait photography project that uses the artist’s own body as a site of tension between visibility and refusal. Positioned between fantasy and lived reality, the work examines how bodies, particularly those read through gendered expectations, are looked at, claimed, and interpreted.

Rather than presenting a fixed identity, the work exists in a space of negotiation; where gender is not something revealed, but something imposed through looking. Glamour, theatrical lighting and spectacle echo environments where bodies are consumed, yet the subject rejects external ownership and the demand to be legible.

By turning the camera inward, the project reclaims self-portraiture as an act of agency. One that allows for desire, denial, poise and fatigue to coexist in contradiction.

Simultaneously a declaration and an interruption, NOBODY’S GIRL does not seek to explain gender, but to remain inside its pressures: the performance, the scrutiny, and the cost of being seen.’
